This is my favorite photo in retouch.
Reminds me of my childhood. It's like stepping back in time.
Every inch of this old photo needed restoring.
Great work on the background Peth. It was a grainy mess.
Outstanding work on the shoes, clothing and faces.
There have been a lot of fine restorations of this photo.
But I think this is the best I have seen.
Since you are still working on this can I make one suggestion?
I think the photo is better without the broom handle.
But between the dogs legs the straw head is still there.
It's only a piddling little thing that most people wouldn't notice.

Well done Matt I knew there was something amiss there but hadn't figured it out. Thanks mate. The whole photo is still a bit flat I think, so I'll be working on that next.
Cheers for the comment.

Stumbled across your pic a little late but I have to agree with Matt ("best I have seen"). The quality of the clothing, hair and facial features is exceptional. The new siding looks great and natural. The new woodwork on the stairs looks perfect but I'm not sure it should, and in the same way the legs, boots and shadows are perfectly sharp and shiny - I'm guessing that softening the stockings (pulling back a bit from inky black) and blurring some edges would help balance the bottom half with the less sharp and contrasty top half. From the knees up the photo looks perfectly natural, but from the knees down it looks a bit hyper-real to me.
