I like this photo a lot, but it lacked something!!! So ooo
I've tried it in colour.
It really is a lot of work, and I gave up trying to put right all the tiny marks and scratches.
I borrowed bits of faces, pinched some trees off the net, colour burnt, cloned, patch repaired, zoomed in so close and got rid of millions of bits of rubbish.
Tired now! Going to bed.

Steve - I’ve always believed the older a photo the harder it is to color.
I think you have done a terrific job on this.
Keeping it grainy and adding color has breathed life into this old photo.
The well chosen de-saturated colors on the dresses keep the period look.
I like the branches and leaves above the roof.

There are hours of hard restoration work in this photo.
And the roof is a restorer’s nightmare.
I assumed you made this color version from your first restore.
But I have a sneaking suspicion you have done this from scratch.
Anyone tackling that damn roof for the second time
should win a bravery award.

Best Wishes
Matt

Your right Matt!
I started from scratch again, wish I hadn't now.
It's one of those restores that you look at afterwards and say "could be better"
but then you can't believe how much work there is to do!

Merry Christmas Matt to you and your family.

Kind regards
Steve

Steve,

I really like the colors you added, and especially trees in back of the house.
Very nice work, this is a hard one!
