 Used Photoshop 6.
 Put white background and put challenge photo on another layer on top.
 Cut out background of picture with lasso tool, probably not most efficient way but the only way I know so far.
 Duplicated the cut out layer.
 Adjusted contrast on duplicate layer until all color portion turned black and kept that layer under the cut out color layer.
 Returned to color layer and tried to identify boldest colors in blocks of color, outlined them with appropriate color and used paint bucket to fill in when I could. Used paint brush or airbrush when too small for paint bucket.
 When done with adding all the color I wanted, used the lasso tool to roughly cut away all the darker areas to reveal black layer below and create flatter color.
 Went to white layer and filled it in with yellow using paint bucket.

A good strong interesting painting, would'nt mind hanging it on my wall. Yellow background offsets the rest beautifully

Well it's not impressionist, but I love it! Excellent color choices. Great poster!

Thanks for your comments! I was going for a Toulouse Latrec poster style, and trying really hard to squeeze him into the impressionist era. I found out he is categorized as "post impressionist". Does that count??? Say yes.

Real nice effect. I reminds me of comic book style. I like the solid colors. I was hoping so see something different with this one and you sure gave it to me.

I think it is fantastic!!!! I just love the bright colors, and that's coming from one who prefers more subdued colors. maybe I will get really daring and try it

This really has a handmade quality, it's just lovely. It's got a great "Pop Art" feel that is deceptively simple. Putting her on that rich yellow background really adds to this handmade quality.
