These are pictures that I took of my daughters with a fairy theme. so, this was pretty easy for me.
I cut each girl using my eraser tool
pasted each one on as a new layer and placed them where i wanted
found fair wings, cut them out and pasted them as a new layer behind the layer with my daughters
used the soften tool on the edges to blend them in to the background.
merged layers
copy and pasted as new layer and converted to grayscale
copied the grayscale and pasted as a new layer on top of the color layer
slid the opacity of the bw layer until i got the desired look

used my dodge tool to create the orbs
used darken tool to create a shadow under the floating fairy saying shhhh
used the darken tool right under the sleeping fairy
duplicated layer
added a guassin blur at 20% and slid the opacity layer to create a softened look
