First, I made a layer for the 3 girls on the left, then adjusted the upper right corner, and made a layer for the tallest girl. Then I fixed the bricks ~ copy / paste / clone / healing patch / burn / dodge...

Next I worked on the tallest girl, I used the smallest girls (girl #1) nose, some of girl #2 and #3's mouth. Found some hair in an old photo similar to hers,. She was the most challenging.

Did alot of the same for the others, but not as much reconstruction on the faces.

I made an overlay layer to make the contrast pop.

For the color, I used 3 layers in different modes at different opacities. 1 on multiply, 1 on overlay, and 1 on color

I really like your work on this tough restoration Marlenes,
Fine work on the big girls mouth eye and hair.
The white dresses look great, it helps the girls stand out from the wall.

marlenes,

I'm in awe of the work you've done here. Your restoration is crisp, clean and I escpecially love how you were able to realistically create the missing face on the oldest girl.

Hi Marlenes,

Neat Image does a great job removing jpg artifacts and grain.
I got my copy free from a magazine.
Years of experience has taught me that anything free is unlikely to work well.
But Neat Image amazed me.
It reduces grain without softening edges. In fact it seems to sharpen edges.
I find it does a great job on 8 of 10 grainy photos.
I think there is a Neat Image web site.

My version is old. It is not a plug-in.
But newer versions may work as plug-ins.

Matt-

On the window, I'm not sure, but I thought that the lighter parts around the edges were sky and the darker in the middle was a reflection of a tree, however, I'm sure some of it's dirt. Anyway, that's just my interpretation. Just mentioning this from what you said to Lorraine and how she cleaned the window. :-)

thanks Dan,

I wasn't sure to put the coloring in or not, but it seems to be favored over my black and white.

What u have done shows that if u have a mind to fix it u can...Awesome restore on this one. Damn i'll say u have a lot of patience. The fact that u didnt clean up the window somehow seems right to me... it goes perfectly well with the unfinished unplastered wall.
