Used levels to lighten this up then got busy using the clone tool.... after all that I changed it to CMYK mode to begin colorizing by making my selection and copying to another layer then using Hue/Saturation set to colorize to pick whatever color..... most of the modes were set to "color" except for the gold tones which were set to "color burn"...... even though I changed her dress color, his uniform colors were copied from a painting of this particular uniform I'd located on a Scottish Museum website...

This is another restoration with a lot of work in it.
Nice work on the chair, background and painting.
The ladies dress looks superb.
