Hi Folks
Here are my steps to clean this one up.
1. Ran Danny's channel splitter and chose cyan channel because it had the most detail.
2. Ran polaroid D&S filter.
3. Fixed damage with patch and healing brush tools. This took many fixes.
4. Used dodge and burn tools on hat outline to better define it.
5. Ran sepia action that came with ps7.0
6. adjusted levels and contrast.
7. Saved as 800 wide jpeg.

Thanks till next time

Good job, the pants look a little blown out a little.

kenb, good call on the pants you did a lot better job salvaging them than I did. I'll probably play with this one a little more if I get a chance.

mamagator, thanks for the nice comments.

Excellent job Jerry. You may have lost some details in the pants but overall the restoration is very nice.

Face, bandana and chaps are a little blown out. Bottom of chaps are a little fuzzy.

Did a great repair job but my eye caught a little scratch across his right fingers - no big deal.

I like the contrast and the sepia toning very much.

However, the lines on his coat could have been preserved a little better. I also wonder why the squares (due to jpeg compression I assume) on his coat are so noticable in your picture. Did you happen to save your file multiple times as a jpeg, or is there another reason?

Hi Araldo
I notice that I got your first post on retouch pro. Welcome and thanks for commenting on my retouch.

I agree that I lost the lines in the coat. I think I just overlooked them while repairing the damage. Thanks for pointing that out to me.

I don't quite understand your other comment. I didn't save it as a jpeg more than once. My file size is the same as all of the others. I compared my pic side by side with one of the 5 star pics and couldn't see what you meant with regard to the blocks in the coat... Sorry
