Mate that is very very nice work! I must admit I often take these old photo and take them to greyscale but the sepia actually is quite beautiful.
I know you're tired... you must be, but one day, much later on maybe come back to this and do just a little more burning in of a few areas.
Don't mean to be too critical however as this restoration is tops in my book. Love to know how you approached it. Kudos

Great restoration of this photo Steve,
Outstanding work on the huge cast of people in front of the house.
All the faces are clear and sharp.
I counted 63 people in this wonderful old photo
There was a huge amount of restoring needed in the facial and clothing area.
This restoration has a great over-all look to it.
I think the aged color works well with this photo.
Peth suggested some burning. I think he means at the sides.
But I am sure you have deliberately included the slight fade at the sides to
keep the photo looking old and to work with your frame.

Peth : Thanks for the comments.
I've posted a description now.
I agree with you about the burning, there's a few faces and bits of clothing that need to be fine tuned, I guess I kinda wanted it to be finished before it's time.
Are you going to try this one?? - Make sure you don't upset the wife, it takes a while!
David : Thank you also.
I guess your comment is a reference to the clone stamp.
I forgot to mention in the description, but I only used it for the female standing on the far left, pinched a relatives face for her!
Matt: I still don't know how you did this so quickly and accurately.
I think Peth is right. There are a couple of faces that need enhancing and a few bits of clothing, but when I don't know!!
You hinted at sepia in your submission and i guess you pushed me into it. (Thanks)
Cheers
Steve

Thanks for the breakdown Steve. Increasing the resolution is key to your great execution I think. In response to the burning in comment, yes I did mean some areas of the cloning but hey, I'd pay for it he way it is any day.
Am I going to have a crack at it? Hmmm. Certainly learnt a bit from you and Matt on how to approach this challenge so yes I'll have a go. Hold the line please caller.

Steve - I paid a price for doing this on steroids.
I am kicking myself for missing one of the chimneys.
You did a good job defining the small child between
the three ladies on the left. I missed him or her.
Peth - I am glad you are going to do this challenge.
Remember the rules.
You must complete your restoration in less than 2 hours.
Steve and I spent less than 2 hours on our restorations.
And we never tell fibs.

Another gem Steve. I would have recognized it as a 'Shalford' without any name attached. Great contrast and detail, and a warm, nostalgic feel.

Doug - Thank you for your comments.
Am I that predictable?
It really is a great photo to work on.
One day I might finish off the bits that Peth has mentioned.
Cheers

Shocking... I really should read my posts a little more carefully... I meant clothing not cloning !!!! Full marks for decifering that one! Cloning indeed!

Peth - You could have justed edited the comment...
I read it as "clothing" - I'd never have realised.
Sad or what.
Cheers
