Began with dark orange solid background.
Selected darker orange and light brown colors.
Applied following filters:
Photoshop Clouds and Palette Knife
Paint Engine Embossy
Photoshop Craquelure and Ink Outlines
Made 4 random fixed size selections from background of 120 pixels to create squares.
Positioned squares, merged layers, applied level adjustments to darken.
Duplicated squares and set duplicate to screen blend mode to create lighting effects in center.
Erased outer areas of screen blend squares to leave edges darker.
Merged layers and applied Craquelure Filter to add more texture.
Applied drop shadow to squares.
Merged with background layer.
Worked on duplicate copies to apply various hue/saturation and level adjustments.
Smudged to soften some of the texture, sharpened to increase some of the texture.
Made selections on squares. Copied and set to screen blend mode, masked selections to create more lighting where I thought it should be most prominent.

Love the texture of both the squares & background, but for different reasons. The squares give the impression of an orbital photograph of the surface of Mars maybe? Whilst the background looks like it is a view of the same but through textured glass. Colour palette definately looks old Oil on my screen. Very Nice work.
