An older challenge, I was very much taken with the character of this lovely lady. I hope I have done her some justice.
This is the first time I have used air brushing, quite an experience.
Levels first of all, and was able to remove much of the yellowness.
I located a button on the right shoulder, added another to the left (looking at the pic)
Necklace was rejuvenated using mulitply on its own level. Earring used colour dodge.
Lots of cloning, tried to even up the texture of the dress and define some style to it.
I left the glasses alone as much as I could and worked around them. I didn't feel confident enough to totally rebuild, and my aim was to prevent further damage .. so she still has her old specs although I did use the better eye to cover the damaged one .. not at full opacity. It's not perfect but I guess it could have been worse
I love her hair, and pretty much left it alone. The hair was also the reason why I didn't replace the background.
I cloned the best piece of blue that I could find and kept going from there.
My feeling about this portrait is that the lady is wearing some kind of offical 'regalia' and that the 'necklace' is a chain of office more than her personal choice of adornment. The chain appears to be attached to the gown at the buttons on either side and doesn't go around the neck as a necklace would. Perhaps 'Lady President Great Grandma Boone' ?
That's about it I think. I thoroughly enjoyed working with this lady.
