Restoration Challenge #40 Cowboy

Duplicated the Image.

Filter > Noise > Dust & Scratches … adjust to fit.

Started by Cloning … a lot of cloning.

Selected Cowboy.

Select > Invert.

Layer > New > Adjustment > Levels … adjusted the background a little darker.

Filter > Blur > Gaussian Blur … Radius 1.0

Select > Invert.

Layer > New > Adjustment > Levels … adjusted Cowboy a little lighter.

Filter > Sharpen > unsharpened the cowboy.

Flattened.

Hi Don,

Perhaps this one's been worked a little too hard. There is very little of the original texture of the photo. You're paying attention to the detail but are pressing on your "pencil" a little too hard. Try lightening up on the filter settings etc. to let more of the original through.

It seems to be heavily compressed creating those 'squares' and a little blurred. What software do you use btw? and what version? When cloning a good tip is to have the opacity set low (unless you want to copy an actual detail) oh and feather the edges
