Doug Colwell Senior Member Registered: October 2003 Location: Alberta Posts: 157 users gallery	I spent alot of time with the clone tool trying to recover as much of the original dress pattern as I could, flipped the left shoulder and smoothed arm, rotated and pasted onto right. Found a suitable hair brush (natural brushes in CS) to paint some reddish streaks after using clone and burn to smooth out the head of hair. Cloned face and neck into a patchy paint by numbers looking thing, and then used heavy guassian blur to blend the patches and used a mask to apply this only to the skin areas. Rebuilding the facial features was a marathon of cloning, dodging and burning with a lot of zooming and flipping back to the original to check how far I'd wandered away from the actual shapes and outlines - it still amazes me how the slightest change of a facial detail can chuck 'likeness' out the window. Opted for a new, darker bg to help the hair blend in a bit better and to try to hide the puffy sleave a little.

Great work on this tough restoration Doug,
The skin tones look perfect.
I like the way you have done the hair.
It has more shape and blends nicely into the darker background.
I know what you mean when you say how easy it is to lose the
'likeness' of this lady compared to the original.
The slightest change to the eyes and she looks completely different.

Thanks Matt. I think it's the ones that aren't so badly damaged that are more of a headache to restore because you can clearly see what it should look like.

What a wonderful piece of work this is!
The dress pattern is really nice, brilliant skin tones as Matt said.
I have to admit I gave up on this one.
