This is my first posting but had to try it. Although I usually use Photoshop, I found it easier to use Corel Painter IX to sample color and remove the cracks and general overall brushing of face to restore light & shadows. I then opened it in Photoshop and changed mode to grayscale, adjusted levels and sharpened with Highpass.
