A lot of fiddling went into color correction - that was the big challenge. Fixing the damage was trivial, especially when I cropped most of it out

Here's what I can remember of the work flow -

Duplicated background layer twice. Ran filter>average, then cmd i to invert, on the second copy (blend mode vivid light); adjusted opacity to produce a semi-usable color balance. This was VERY washed out, so used a combination of curves and levels to give it a little substance.

Took the image into Lab and blended both the a and b with themselves in overlay mode. That brought the colors out more. Then back to RGB for curves to boost the skin tones, using a layer mask derived from the blue channel to isolate the results to face and hands.

The greenery was still a reddish yellow instead of green, especially in the most color-damaged areas. Selected a part of one of those areas, copied it onto its own layer, and ran filter>average on that, followed by cmd i to get the inverse of that color. Merged visible onto a new layer.

Then we get to the lots of fiddling part. With a soft brush at like 2% opacity, on a new layer, painted over the red discoloration. Sometimes I used the inverse stain color in overlay mode and sometimes it was a sampled 'good' green in color mode. Futzed with it until I was satisfied.

Finished off by merging visible to a new layer and applying hiraloam sharpening. The original image was pretty soft, so the end result wasn't what you'd call crisp. And I'm still not happy with the magenta shadows on Superboy's pant legs but got tired of fighting with it. Oh, well . . .

Carole

Edit: Didn't like the color balance - tried to fix it.
