Desaturated. Realigned the faded head of the cup holder guy and also the bottom left corner (not everything lined up there as I expected it to so had to fudge a bit around the area of middle guy's legs). Faded facial features of middle guys were usm'd and then the cloning started on the cracks and tape edges. Where the cracks hid facial features and other textures I used dodge and burn along the exagerated hilites and shadows to dig out hidden detail. I think alot of this work could have been avoided if the photo of the photo had been scanned, or at least lit from the side. I did some brick cloning in spots but tried to keep the pattern and levels close to the original. Copied, flipped and manipulated cup holder's right hand after trying in vain to recover something that looked like a cup holding hand (for a while I was almost convinced that the cup holder guy was part of the painted backdrop largely because of that goofy looking cup). Used masked usm to emphasize facial features on everyone (including the dog). Dodged and cloned to even out blotchy parts especially on those white duds. Used variations to approximate the original sepia tone.
resubmitted with neat image applied to white coats and fiddled with some faces.

Well I haven't done a restore challenge for so long that I managed to delete everything when I tried to replace my pic. I used my back button to retrieve Charlene5's kind comment...

I've been working at this one and I am very impressed with what you've done! You brought back the picture without it looking overcloned or flat. I, too, thought at one point that cup holder was either a dummy or part of the backdrop. Maybe he's a hat rack?"
Thank you Charlene! I'm looking forward to seeing yours.
