This was fun!!
I started with 3 layers of clouds.. different shades of orange, reds, and blacks. Flipped the second layer. Then played a bit with blending modes on all. Went back and forth with the layers, playing with pallet knife, noise, blur and bubbles. I merged all layers and stretched them. Then altered the blending modes again and opacity. Found a oil paint filter to use on the top layers. Then played with the 4 boxes using the background texture but flipping it to make them stand out more and then added layer styles to get a bit of light and shadow. Then played with curves and levels to get the look I wanted. Final result reminds me of Francis Bacon type decaying backgrounds. That makes me happy!
