I´m learning photoshop. I don´t have any plug-ins, yet. But this time I´m sure I would have had use for "cheat image".
Replaced blue channel with green. The green was first copied on own layer. that layer duplicated, top green layer inverted, blended in overlay mode. That made a good blue channel. And the yellow blotches no more. The red ones was taken care of by blurring channels in both rbg, cmyk and lab mode. A lot of colour tweaking. Surface blur in light channel, lab mode. Sharpend a little. Blurred faces with blur tool. Color to background. Hmm, think thats it.
Nice job Ulf ! I like the new life you gave to the photo.

Thank you Laura. I´ve been away and while away I looked at this picture on another screen and saw much more red in it. I just hope it´s that other screen that needs correction.

You have done an exceptional job on this difficult challenge. I could say that just for the fact that you managed to remove the canvas texture and keep detail in the portrait itself. I must add that you have done a superb job on the colorizing as well.

Truly impressive. I'm sure they're happy with the results.
