It really was hard to make her look better but...
I didn't want to completely eradicate her freckles because they are part of her but I did tone them down. I blurred a duplicate of the face then erased areas around the eyes, mouth, nose and some hair to bring back some detail. Then I darkened the background, added some design elements to make it more of a graphic. I also whitened the eyes a bit and pumped up the colour of her lips just a tad.
