This was created with 4 layers. Black was BG then 3 other layers were made using different opacity settings. I created some wavy lines with the paintbrush tool in photoshop then used liquify to manipulate, I then added motion blur, placed my 3 smoke layers in a layer set, added a layer mask and painted using a low opacity.
