Duplicated layer and applied curves to brighten stained areas, then applied mask to show only those areas. Sharpened, reduced size for posting and sharpened again.

For marlenes: FFT = fast fourier transform
It's a filter that can be used to remove a regular pattern from an image. You can get it as a plug-in or as a standalone program (e.g. Image Analyzer).
