I started by adjusting the color balance. It took a long time to get it "just right" Once I did that, I adjusted the contrast using "curves." I tried for awhile to remove the resulting noise using a filter, but I didn't achieve any satisfactory results. So I used the smudge tool to get rid of the noise on the boy, though I left the background alone, since the noise is much less noticable in the background. Finally, selected the face and hands, feathered the edges of the selection, and then adjusted the color on the face in an attempt to get an acceptable skin tone. I probably could have fiddled more with the smudge tool to get a better result, but I got tired. Maybe I'll do more later. XD
