A Girl And Her Dog
Duplicate
Selected the eyes and put then in a layer > New > Layer Via > Copy … touched up the eyes.
Worked on her Hair and Dogs Fir using Smudge Tool and the Girls face with the Clone Tool.
Selected the background and “Pasted Into” with a background that I made.
Selected the foreground “blanket” and put it in it’s own layer > New > Layer Via Copy … painted the light section with the Airbrush Tool with color selected from the blanket … used the Smudge Tool to contour the blanket.

The things I like the best are the texture in the blanket, and the colored background. I think they work great with this image. Also her eyes really stand out nicely.

I see that you kept, even emphasized, her freckles...nice touch! And the red background is daring and striking...it's her favorite color too! She actually does have green eyes, though not quite as green as you have made them. The only thing you forgot was to clone away the scan line going through her head. I really need a new scanner!
