I first made a copy of the original.
Then I added a curves layer and then adjusted the brightness/contrast.
Did a lot with the clone stamp. Never did get the striped shirt to look quite right.
I did crop the picture a little.
Then I sharpened the picture using a technique I found on the web that you take the second layer and you use a guassian blur on it til it is smoothed out. Then you use apply image and apply the original to the second layer and set it to subtract.
Then you change the blending mode to soft light and it does a pretty good job and doesn't pixelate as much.
