I used masks and colorize in hue saturation to do the colour. I tried not to look at anyone elses versions so to not be influenced... colours ended up similar to others anyways
After I was done with the colour I did several layers with blend modes and various filters, ie gaussian blur over an inverted desaturated version, high pass filter...
After I did mine, I took a look at this one and I like it, because you didn't want yours to look like the others, and those were exactly my thoughts... hehe... Nice work.
