My approach was to restore the photo as true to the original as possible and to retouch as little as possible.
- FFT filter
- reduce noise, 3% and mask out eyes and mouth
- damage repair, only used cloning
- soft light layer, 50% gray, used black and white brush to repair shading
- curves layer to ad more contrast
- distort: lens correction, very faint black vignette
