Wow. This was the most challenging restoration attempt by me so far. I had the most trouble with the bottom left quarter. Especially the table and flowers. Kudos to those of you who accomplished the restoration of the rose on the cloth. I replaced this part with a cross image I found online. I began by copy/pasting the red channel into the G and B channels. The red channel had more detail. This eliminated the silver damage going on that was hurting my eyes. Lots of cloning, healing and patience. For an old photo, there was some nice sharp detail to work with. Especially in the girl's face. I used the smudge tool and blur tool quite a bit to finish the girls dress, adding noise along the way. I work a lot by making these smudge, blur, noise moves overall, and then placing my history brush at the noise move and clicking up the ladder in the history pallet to the spot before these moves, and brushing these effects into the areas I need them. Hope that makes sense? I also pulled a tapestry pattern off the internet to create rug and some rosary beads for her hand. I almost missed this detail, but I noticed one of the talented retouch pro artists mentioned it in his post. Dodge and burn of areas. I have to admit, I kept referring to other posts to see how others handled some trouble areas. I learn a lot by looking at everyone's rendition. The colorized versions of this restoration are amazing. I may attempt this some other day...
