I typed the word "makeup" into Google and saw this rainbow eye makeup effect which I tried to copy. Bounced back and forth between GIMP and Rendera quite a bit, so I labelled each step accordingly.

1. Rendera:
Restore filter, 75% contrast. Corrects most of the color cast and contrast problems. Also available as a plug-in for the GIMP: http://www.lionhouse.plus.com/photosoftware/

2. GIMP:
Levels (center gamma control), green = 0.9, blue = 0.6. This gave the image a warmer look.

3. Rendera:
With the "Fine Airbrush" paint mode and "Colorize" blending mode: Colored in the eye makeup and lips, changed the shirt color, and made eyes more reddish brown. Used the "Lighten" blending mode to brighten the eyes and add detail.

4. Rendera:
With the "Solid" paint mode and polygon tool and "Colorize (Midtones)" blending mode, gave a reddish tint to the hair. (The polygon tool was used to prevent overlapping brush marks.)

5. GIMP:
Used large soft brushes and cloning to smooth the skin out.

6. GIMP:
Levels (center gamma control), green = 0.85. Did this correction to give the skin a redder tone to match the rest of the image better.
