Manjumena 03-20-2005, 03:50 AM Played with History brush, masks, lighting effects Manju jaykita 03-20-2005, 07:27 AM Manju - EXCELLENT!!!   raniday 03-20-2005, 10:26 AM Manju, wonderful as usual. You da man!! Mine is actually based on an earlier technique that I learned from you, using Art History brush, motion blur, and Picasso's Last Word. jaykita 03-20-2005, 10:38 AM Hey Raniday..that's great! Care to explain without upsetting "the great master"??? raniday 03-20-2005, 10:54 AM Hi Jaykita, I've been a fan of Manjula's since I first discovered him in another forum. I've bugged him occasionally for details, and he's always generous with his help. It doesn't feel like copying because whenever we take steps from someone else's techniques, we invariably change them enough to make them our own. Here's what I did on this pic. Made several layers and cranked the hue/sat way up (you and LUV color); took the top layer and splattered all over it with a big Art History watercolor brush, ran motion blur and then Picasso's Last Word; on the next layer down, ran cutout, and then erased through the top layer to find the players. Then it was just a matter of playing w/ subsequent layers, finding lost areas that I wanted to bring back, playing w/ blending modes, etc. Hope that makes sense. P.S. The more I've thought about it, I believe these steps combine and borrow from at least 2 of Manjula's techniques. CJ Swartz 03-20-2005, 04:51 PM Manju -- really isolates the action! Raniday -- does the same, and the color swashes near the Laker's player seems to add tension and a feeling of action. Mine used Chrome, crystallize, facet over a motion blur with enhanced Hue/Sat., plus some other work. DannyRaphael 03-20-2005, 06:25 PM I put Manju in a league with Trimoon when it comes to inspiring me with exceptionally creative results. What he does with colors, textures and brush strokes just blows me away sometimes. DannyRaphael 03-20-2005, 06:31 PM I really like the way you did your background, CJ. Ditto on yours, too, raniday. jaykita 03-20-2005, 09:16 PM Hey Raniday, thanks to you, dear, i had grrrr8 fun with this one!! Tried to do as raniday said in her last post. Upped sat on orig, motion blur. One more layer with cutout filter. Layermask on motionblur, scribbled diagonally on layer mask and applied chrome filter. Layer style - satin. Adjusted colors. Thank you so much, R, for the instructions. C.j. I really like what u did too. In fact all 3 of u were my inspiration on this one! CJ Swartz 03-21-2005, 01:51 AM Judy -- VIBRANT! Colorful! Action! Creative!! CJ Swartz 03-21-2005, 02:33 AM Using Manju's polar distort, I did a spatter and a palette knive and added lighting effects on one channel. Janet Petty 03-21-2005, 07:18 AM I went for the blurred out background look too. Janet Patricia 03-21-2005, 02:35 PM I really like all the images here, especially Raniday's. It really conveys the intensity of the players. My first thought also was to blur the background. I played around, think I used radial blur and motion blur, then Picasso's Last Word, more blur, Rough Pastels . . . maybe even the kitchen sink! before getting something I liked. The only thing I missed was a good glass of wine, my doctor took that away from me. :depressed Then I painted the figures back in with the history brush, touched up here and there, and there you have it. Patricia raniday 03-22-2005, 11:11 AM Patricia, sorry about your wine; Manju did a hilarious post along those lines in the "Liz in Thought" thread! I love your rendition, and I often toss in the kitchen sink before I'm through with a piece :classic: Judy, I always look forward to your vibrant colors!! This one looks like pastel chalks and should be printed out about 36 inches high on canvas. TylerRB 03-22-2005, 03:08 PM Here I isolated the players and added an adjustment layer for selective color. I added two sets of Render->Lighting Effects. Then, I added a mask to both lighting layers, lowered opacity and removed some of the light from the player in black (Tony Parker) because it was over-exposed. I will get better at dictating what I have done with each pic......I promise. Neve 03-22-2005, 07:11 PM Great Photo thanks! These are fantastic results  After a couple of weeks on holiday I'm a little rusty so chose this one to get back into the "feel" of things! Duped bottom layer L2 - Fotomatic/Techni-X filter - Dupe L2 L3 - Paint Engine/Poster effect - Soft Light Impressionist/Chalk - Bright strokes on Black - Mode Normal 60% Merged all layers. PSP8 - Brush Preset/Coloured Noise - on bg only. byRo 04-12-2005, 11:30 AM I had this photo on "hold" waiting for a good technique. Used Trimoon's paper and AH brush, Stamp impressionist and a Photocopy overlay. Rô DannyRaphael 04-12-2005, 03:25 PM I had this photo on "hold" waiting for a good technique. Used Trimoon's paper and AH brush, Stamp impressionist and a Photocopy overlay. Rô A very inventive combination of techniques from the lab of Dr. Rô. The way you handled the background sure makes those players stand out. :) Legacy~Art 04-12-2005, 04:16 PM Having no idea who they are i have added a new background and some words! cardmnal 04-17-2005, 11:06 PM Thought I would paint a mural on a wall. AP Peter S 10-09-2007, 03:05 PM Just trying to be dramatic I think. I wanted to take the focus away from the spectators. Peter dkcoats 10-11-2007, 06:55 PM I'm not sure how I expected this to turn out, but this probably isn't it. (If I had a hundred bucks for every time I've said that I'd be rich.) CS2 & Painter. |
