In PSP8.1

Dupe bottom layer
L2 – VP/Collage Settings....
Size=M/Material=N/Rend=Intensity
Cols=Intensity/Def=N/Focus=N

L2 – Mode, Soft Light 100%
Merge both layers.

Dupe bottom layer
L2 – Impressionist/Texture/Twenty-Twenty
Some Aim/USM to sharpen
Dupe L2 –
L3 – Soft Light to suit image.
Merge layers.

Such a beautiful rose and gorgeous renditions. Not sure what all I did, but I was aiming for a w/c effect, and it involved lots of layers, Art History brushes and crystalize.

Cutting the chatter to add a picture...

The base for this one was another Impressionist-Crayon:Short/Choppy + Elements2 Dry Brush. I tossed in a PaintEng:TempD layer for good measure. Then did lots of work on refining the tones (in Elements) and the texture (in Painter8). The background came out rather abstract which I think complements the rose nicely.

Followup -- Playing a bit more, I discovered an interesting look using the SurfaceControl:QuickWarp:Sphere option. Posted as the 2nd picture.

Painter with Photoshop waterc layer, low opac. Cloned in painter using a couple of filters (buzz for one) and blends.
