I wonder if it's possible to change the color of a dark shirt (black & white image) to white
Part of a image is attached. Any help (in detail) would be very much appreciated

Hi Kim,
My quickie effort:
Duped the background
ran the magnetic lasso around the shirt outline
used the regular lasso to tweak outline
stroked a path (center 1 pix) with white
Added adjustment layer (filled with white) and mask with selection highlighted
reduced opacity of white between 70-80%
Tweaked the shadow/ wrinkles with dodge tool at 7%
Many other ways. Look forward to seeing how people do this. Looks like it was given a pretty high feather initially, but I only applied a 1 pix feather
OOPs, I see I neglected to add the shadow for teh child in the left corner. that would be accomplished through selection or conversely, the use of the dodge tool on low setting :-)
Sean
thank Sean2
I look forward to see more ways to do this as well ;)

Added new layer, blend mode to Overlay, and painted in white to shirt area.
Ctrl clicked paint layer to select shirt.
Applied levels adjustment layer, and adjusted to get shadows and highlights as needed. (Difficult to judge on such a small image).

I ran the lasso (very quickly) and just did a levels adjustment. I didn't have to tweak the shadows.
Thank very much everyone for helping me out on this. Your reply did help me alot to accomplish what I'd like to do. Sorry for the small size sample (I wasn't sure on which size this forum accept).
Great advices :pleased:
