Could someone please tell me the technique to getting rid of red eyes, i have in past used Paint Shop Pro but i find the eyes then look very false, this picture i am eventually going to turn it into an oil painting greeting card, its my neice, and i want to send it to her Mum,

The easiest way is just to select the red area and desaturate. If you have Photoshop then the sponge tool would work as well in desaturate mode.

Well I've never actually removed red eye in photoshop - the various complimentary software that comes with scanners, printers etc always seems to come with simple and effective red eye removal tools. But just to see how easy it was, I lassoed the red eyes, and adjusted saturation and lightness in the Hue/Saturation settings. There is probably a more sophisticated way, but this only took me about a minute.

This is the method I use; and without fail it works better than the blanket job automatic red-eye fixers do. It doesn't leave the eyes looking dead and lifeless. This method does not remove the catch light either.

Make a feathered selection of the red area in both eyes at the same time. The amount you feather will be based on how many pixels in your photo. For example, if your picture is only 72 pixels per inch, then you would not want to feather more than 1 or 2 pixels. If your picture is 300 pixels per inch, then the amount you feather the selection would obviously be greater.

With the selection active, click on the adjustment layer palette and bring up hue/saturation and click on it. Your selection automatically is placed in the mask. With hue/saturation open, click colorize and work with the sliders to obtain a colorized pupil with depth.

Part of the beauty of this is having the selection on a mask. If you find you have misjudged the size of the selection, it is easy to tweak by painting directly on the mask with the brush.

I have had permission to add her picture to the forum for painting challenge, so Danny your welcome to add it, but again "NO REMOVING PICTURE FROM FORUM" has she is a 5 yr old little girl and her picture i prefer not to be used anywhere else, i think you know what i mean.

So Danny use the Emma picture, make her more if thats possible beautiful than she already is.
