OK, this was my first time spending some time with Impressionist. Wow--what a lot of fun features! Anyway, I have always liked this photo of my cat Grizzle so I decided to play around with it a bit. The first thing I had to do was make his eyes look somewhat normal.

I copied the redone eyes onto a new layer and applied "chunky strokes" to everything else. The eyes seems to look a bit funny then. I tried to apply some different types of impressionist filters to the eye layer but nothing seemed to look right. I finally tried motion blur which ended up looking better.

akj,

very nice work and a great subject to be sure.

I hope you don't mind, I took some liberties.

I decided to extract Grizzle and place him in a little more surreal bbackground. then I just played with filters pretty much. Can't tell you what all I did but I ended by repeating the pallet knife 3 or 4 times and then working with lighting effects.

I like what you did with the background there. Makes him look like he's on display at a museum somewhere. :D I was hoping to give his eyes a little bit more "pop" but it was getting late. I was happy enough to get rid of the red/yellow eye fairly well.

He definitely is the most photogenic of all my critters. Believe it or not he spent the first 8 weeks of his life as an unwanted kitty living in a dumpster! Sure glad he's my kitty now. :)
