Well this one was fun! Thanks!
I made a duplicate layer, chose the green predominant background, ran a bit of a blur on it. Then created another layer, used an oval marquee, adjusted it until I had selected just the area behind the hurdler, masked it, motion blurred and duplicated. pasted, added glowing edges, then faded the glowing edges to pinlight until I had a look I liked, took it down to about 30 percent overlay. ran neat image over this section to get it smoother, then flattened it all, ran neat image to sharpen the other section, played with the curves and levels til I got what I wanted and there you go.
No doubt it can be done better :) However, I had fun! Going on vacation for 6 weeks, so It was an enjoyable way to deal with nervous happy jitters! Thanks!

I was playing around with Flaming Pear's Zephyr filter. I placed some coloured brushstrokes on the background first and then applied the filter.
Then Impressionist/Fluffbutt's/Sharp Stroke. Then Paint Engine ??? Thanks Judy, I enjoyed this... :wavey:

I did this with layer masks, and a couple of filters like find edges, cutout, pattern tool, motion blur (hardlight blend).

A slick result Judy...! Had a feeling you might ask.....? :classic:

Flaming Pear/Zephyr filter on a 2nd layer/Layer Blend Mode/Color (L) ...in PSP8.1.
It's a perfect solution for moi to introduce extra colours easily.
I just used the same filter on another image prior to painting in Painter and it worked a treat.

Decided to create a superhero. . . or possibly a deranged individual. :wink:

Anyway . . .
Knocked out image.
Created a bg using various images until I got something adequate.
Simplified bg and subject.
Nik filters used.
Added a mask and colored shoes.
Placed a few swords in her hands and adjusted image.
Xero Clairity.
Hue & sat and contrast adj.

I'm going to be flying into Portland Oregon, then driving up to Washington, over into Idaho, down into Nevada and Utah, and then back up to Oregon, with my mother in law, lovely lady. It's a genealogy trip of sorts, photo research as well, but most importantly, my husband's family has been hit very hard (almost 70 members) with FascioScapularHumoral Muscular Dystrophy over the years. It has affected my father in law and all of his siblings, my sister in law, and most of my husband's cousins. My husband is a carrier of the gene.
We're gathering research to turn over to the FSHD society regarding this family. Most of the family are mountain folk, don't talk to strangers much. So we're gathering medical records, death certificates, etc., so they can better understand why this family has been hit harder than most, and perhaps help find a cure.
The odds of passing it to your children are 50 percent. The odds in this family are around 80 percent. It wasn't diagnosed until recent years. Again, mountain folk, doctors told them they were prone to scurvy for years, believe it or not. They've lived and struggled with it and accepted it for over 100 years. There is some evidence that it is possible that since no one in history with this form of M.D. has ever had asthma, they hope that by isolating the protein break in the gene that causes this form of M.D., will help them develop a gene therapy that may treat or even cure asthma in the future.
Anyhow, so we're doing the Thelma and Louise tour of the Pacific Northwest! I'll be sure to take some photo's and upload, as it is probably one of the most beautiful parts of the U.S. that exists!
While I'm gone ya'll be sure and have a ball! I look forward to catching up with you when I get back!

I like it too cardmnal. It looks like a very nice version of glowing edges, a filter that can be quirky more often than not. In this case, it works well.

I does look like glowing edges but I rarely mess with that filter as it is doesn't offer much control.

I was on the telephone when I made the first one and didn't pay any attention to how I did it. After all the fiddling around It sems it was a very simple project. I duped it almost perfectly in about a minute in a half.

1) Duplicate background layer
2) adjust curves.
3) New layer, filled with black and placed between the 2 background layers
4) Xero's linart filter on the duplicate background layer (available here) (http://www.xero-graphics.co.uk/). settings = on background, colour, and original
5) Reposition the image down and to the right.
Erased most of the background, saving some of the straight lines which I used to clone to give the impression of movement. (note: I did no cloning on this second version)

For what it's worth, that's it.
