That was a very male statement Ro; but you mitigated it by saying until your got started. :pleased: Wonderful work and very beautiful.

Here is mine.

Love those textures Byro and Janet, great results! Thanks for the photo Judy.

Applied various brushstrokes to the bg, different colours.
Smudged the background slightly.

Ro...glad that boredom didnt stop you...now i wonder how far you'd go if excited, heehee!! Splendid job!
Janet, Neve! Beautifully done. Love the textures.
Painter sargent brush, surface texture filter with image luminance which surprisingly created some black outlines, then tweaked it in Photoshop for the color.

Judy, Neve, I'm impressed. Beautiful roses. And Neve, you don't need to be saying "only a rose". Gosh, roses are so beautiful.

:lmao: Janet!!!!!

As a child, I recall sing-a-longs at home and the words of one song went "........only a rose I love you". I just asked my hubby who is nearing 70, if he could recall the song. He did and said it was very old. So there's little chance we'll recall the song title etc.

The title seemed applicable after reading what your reaction was to Byro?! It wasn't intended to be taken literally, just joining in with a bit of light-hearted fun. As in...."What! Boring! It's only a rose!"

I'm off now to smell the roses in my garden :) :)

Cheers

Magnificent result Judy. That sargent brush is working really well for you. :)

Hi Jaykita,

Please find attached my attempt at your lovely rose.

I cut the flower out of the background and using the eyedropper on the rose I created a similarly colored background. I created a neutral grey Layer in Overlay mode and using a rose shaped brush created some rose shapes in the background.

I then applied the Distort>Zigzag filter to this and added a couple of four pointed stars for good measure.

Going back to the rose Layer I used a mask to fade the edges a bit and make it look like it was poking out of the Layer below. I applied a Lighting filter as a final step just to finish off the image.

Hope you like it

Regards

Con

Hi Con, such an unusual concept! Yes, I like it very much, esp. the backgr. Thank you for the details. Hoping to see more of your work! :bigthmb:

Beautiful roses, everyone.
I used the Art History Brush and used Steve's canvas texture.

i just cant seem to pass up a rose.

nice pieces, all. and con, i especially liked your innovative rendition.

on mine:

selected out the rose to a new layer.
sharpened more 4 times.
colored edges to original layer with background
brush stokes to original layer also.
blend mode on original layer to multiply...i think
cloned out some unwanted bits.

Craig

oh, and i moved the flower over to the left.
