ive used pretty much HP as far as my scanner & printer are concerned, but most of the topics i read in the diffrent threads. seems like more ppl here use epson. is there a bigger advantage over HP? thanks

HP rules for office printers and scanners, but Epson is ahead of them for high-end photo equipment.Take note of the 'high end' though Jim - you do not want to buy a low end Epson consumer printer - they are no better (some comments I've heard suggest worse) that the same priced Canon and HP. Personally I'm saving my pennies for an Epson R1800, and I have an Epson scanner (which are all good). But for low end printer - I have a Canon IP4000.

For me personally if I'm looking for laser printers I'd go for HP. For inkjet its Epson all the way.

I have always used Epsons.Right now I have the Epson PhotoStylus 2200, 13 x 19 inch printer. Many ink tanks, and suerb resolution, plus, repeat plus using Epson Ink and Papers your work is archival.

I own both the Canon XT and 20D digital cameras. My big Dilemma was… which printer to use to get the most from my images. I spent a great deal of time reading the reviews on all the respective photo printers. The three that appealed to me the most is the Canon i9900, the HP 8750 and the Epson R1800. So… this is what I did… I bought all three and performed an exhaustive side-by-side comparison. Without dwelling into the technical data, which have been explored countless times by various online reviews, the following is my personal analysis. The Canon i9900 produced wonderful colors however; the blues are over saturated, which can effectively render unnatural skin tones. At first glance, the prints can look very impressive however, after careful scrutinizing, I find the colors are exaggerated. Great for scenery shots but somewhat unnatural. The Epson produced colors, which appear more neutral and natural looking with a bit more detail then the Canon. The HP’s colors are vibrant with natural looking blacks. The HP also exhibited noticeably more detail than both the Canon and Epson. I had several people view all the sample prints from each of these printers. The final conclusion is the HP 8750 appeared to be the winner for both color accuracy and fine detail. The Epson was a close second. Only one person picked the Canon. These test were purely none scientific and based primarily on individual’s subjectivity. I hope this info helps some of you who are ripping their hair out on this very dilemma. Thanx, Peter
