Hello

Is anyone using the Underwater Action with Photoshop Elements 2.0 ?
Can I just use the underwater.atn from Adobe's site, or do I need a special file created for use with PSE2 ?

Thank you!
Pam

Hello, Pam: Welcome to RetouchPRO...

Although I'm not an Elements user, I know a little about running actions under Elements, so perhaps I can hold the fort until more qualified help jumps in.
Do I need a special file created for use with PSE2 ? At minimum you need to have installed the HPPE2 module to enable Photoshop Elements 2.0 to play Elements-compatible actions. Have you done that yet?Can I just use the underwater.atn from Adobe's site? It depends. If the action is Photoshop Elements compatible, yes. If not, maybe with modifications.

Why don't you .zip the .atn file and upload it as an attachment so it can be eyeballed.

Hi Danny

Thanks for the suggestion. I attached the zipped underwater.atn. This file is from Adobe's site. It's for use to take out all of the blue that you get taking underwater photography.

Haven't attempted to enable PSE2 for actions yet. Just found out that this could be done. I have played with the underwater action in a trial version of Photoshop CS (CS is way more than what I need). The action worked GREAT with my underwater photos!! Just need to get it to work with PSE2 now.

Thanks again Danny.

Since I was playing around with the trial version of Photoshop CS and the Underwater Action, is there an image file/ thumbnail already for the Underwater Action that I can use rather than creating one with PSE2 ? Or does it HAVE to be created in PSE2 ?

Thanks!
Pam

Based on what I know about PSE2 compatible actions, as far as I can tell this one looks OK "as is."

Is there an image file/thumbnail already for the Underwater Action that I can use rather than creating one with PSE2?No. There are not thumbnails associated with actions from a Photoshop perspective.

Or does it HAVE to be created in PSE2?To my knowledge the thumbnail can be created with any program, just as long as it's a) in the right file format (.jpg?) and b) proper image dimensions. If you didn't want to hassle with making a custom thumbnail, I believe I read somewhere you can reuse an existing one.

re: Photoshop Elements 2 Action Player
See "Hidden Power Actions Player" here: http://www.hiddenelements.com/downloads.html

I know "of" this functionality, but have never actually installed or used it. But I'm aware a whole lot of folks have installed it and rave about how easy it is to use.

Hope this gets you going...

Thanks Danny. I'll give it a shot tomorrow. I do have the action player downloaded that you mentioned. I'll let you know how I make out.

Have a good one.

Glad you got it working. Did you have to make modifications? If not, can I get some details on the action? I am trying to collect items for download so elements users have a place to go.

Hi Richard. I didn't modify the action at all. Per the author....

"Ambient light shots underwater are often blue. Add the red back in with this simple action"
