Anybody fancy having a go with this picture, it was taken during a stroll along the river bank near the former cotton mill town of Marsden on the edge of the West Pennine moors.

Mal, is this really the original?? Already looks like a painting. :) :)

I lightened the shadows slightly and added a what I felt was a nicer sky.

Here's a black and white sketch I did by first using Mike Finn's SketchPro action, then using the Artistic>Cut Out filter and adjusting the Levels to increase the contrast.

Thought a lithograph effect might work.

I gave it a mix of impasto and impressionism.

I love photos like this, thank you Mal. Wonderful results everyone....! I hope it was okay to crop it? I made some adjustments re colour, ran it through Buzz Simplifier and applied a Paint Engine Watercolour setting.

Mal, you keep coming up with these photos, and I'm almost going to miss England.

Here's my shot.
Standard method....Photoshop Clean-up, Painter Oily clone, Photoshop enhance brush strokes.

Are you enjoying Painter RO ? .....At first I wanted to try everything. Now I'm concentrating on what works without a tablet.
Also discovered that for me, for now anyhow, Painter is just one step in a three step process.

Like kids in a lolly/sweetie/candy shop we're all the same trying out everything in Painter in the beginning. I seem to be settling into using particular brushes more regularly now. I do a lot of preparation in Paint Shop Pro first and prior to starting in Painter which is where I spend the majority of my time though.

Getting the tablet and pen was the best thing I ever did, been using it ever since I got one several months ago. I'm mystified how you cope without one and applaud such good results irrespective. :bigthmb:

Well, I fancied having a go at this pic, thank you, Mal, for letting me play!Such a beautiful photo. Yes, it does look like a painting, doesnt it.
I did this in ps7 started with all sorts of stuff, trace contour, cutout layer, hue-sat changes, also buzz.

Hey, jaykita, your well-behaved sister paints pretty good too.
Glad to see she's still around - I was getting worried about her.

Just lovely!!

I removed the tree on the left. It opens up the picture a little and leads your eye in.

Here's a filter effect that combines COI Zoom and Noise. Thought the effort worked better in B/W. Who's eyeing who anyways?

Great photo Mal. And great job on the renditions folks. I'm impressed with all the variety and talent.

The scenery looks much like what I see every day here in Arkansas. I couldn't resist artifying it.

I'm sure it will lose a lot of quality in the compression. Be aware it looks much better full resolution.
