Portrait Retouch Challenge

For this month’s challenge you are to download the photo and create a glamour portrait. Note: This is not a Photo Art challenge; the image must be kept as a photo.

File:
Portrait (http://www.retouchpro.com/contests/source_images/portrait.jpg)

THE PRIZE for this month’s contest is a copy of Image Doctor by Alien Skin (http://www.alienskin.com/idoc/idoc_main.html)

Some things to think about: Take some time to evaluate the photo…what needs to be done? How are the skin tones, are there any color casts? Does the background detract from the photo? Are there any hot spots, wispy hairs, red eye, blemishes and so on?

THE RULES:

1. You must VOTE for the top 5 entries. Participants that do not submit their top 5 will be disqualified.

2. Contest will run from 1 July to 24 July 2005. Deadline for entries is 5pm EDT 24 July 2005.

3. This is not a Photo Art challenge. Keep the image as a photo.

4. When you submit your entry put your username in the filename (ie: tpaul.jpg). This is so users can save the images to a local directory and remember who did what--important when it comes time to vote.

5. Your final image size should be as close to 800 px on the long side and 600 px on the short side as possible. Also remember that the file cannot be larger than 100KB.

6. Post your entries to this thread. Please restrict your comments, questions or discussion to the July 05 Contest Discussion thread (http://www.retouchpro.com/forums/showthread.php?t=10910). Inappropriately placed posts will be deleted.

7. Only one entry per person.

8. Voting will run from 25 June to 31 July 2005. Only those with entries may vote. You will vote for the 5 best entries in order. Post your votes in the following thread (July 05 Contest Votes (http://www.retouchpro.com/forums/showthread.php?t=10909)). Note you cannot vote for your own image.

Finally, please let others know about this contest. We can only offer future prizes with continued interest, and please don’t forget to post your entry/comment/vote to the correct thread--there will be three!! Posts made to the incorrect thread will be deleted.

Lots of steps. Mainly the obvious: Cut-out; enhancement; conversion; gradient background. :)

Here is my version of the photo. It's my first post, first contest entry, everything, LOL. I do a lot of similar type work, but have never done it in a contest situation, so I thought I would give this snapshot my hand. Good luck to everyone.

I had a major problem with my net service. Hope i still qualify, i'd withdrawn the earlier image to make a minor change, and it took me quite a while to replace it.

Never really done any 'glamour' retouching .... but surely had a lot of fun doing it! :pleased:

P.S. ... I know, I know.... I bent the 'rules' a bit with her hair .... :D

I puffed up her hair a little and did her make-up a little heavier, then I made her dress with one shoulder off. She's a suttle beauty, that works sometimes too.

This was great fun - and a good challenge. There was a big temptation to keep glamourising, until she wasn't 'her' anymore, so knowing when to stop was the hardest part.

Well, here's mine. Went for the pastel look. Not sure if that's nurdants style. I also added more volume on top of hair to de-emphasize the roundness of her face.

Great, great entries so far. Good luck to everyone!!!!

ok so i have been checking this site alot and never really entered anything into it, until now, the talent here is quite amazing, i hope i match up at some level ... i really struggled with this one like almost everyone else while having a great time doing it ... i tried to deep in mind 'fun' and fought to stay away from the eye candy, as you can see i couldnt do it ... keep up the great work!!
