Took this shot of a penguin. There's one small problem. The end of his
beak. If you look real close, the problem looks like its out of focus.
What it is though, is a blade of grass.

You can probably guess what my question is going to be...

Can someone figure out a way to remove this blade of grass and have
his beak look more natural (specifically the end)?

I'm thinking maybe coloring it somehow, but I have no clue if that would
help or even how to go about it.

If anyone has any suggestions, I'm all ears.

Thanks

if i'm seeing what you're speaking of, then a simple clone/heal shld fix it.

Hi gclguru
The problem is very difficult to see in your post. It took me a while to even find it.

Have I got rid of it all or is that lighter area part of the grass?

I too had trouble being sure exactly what I was trying to get rid of...is this something like what you want? I duplicated the layer, used the healing brush and curves (used a 10 px feathering selection of curves to blend better)on the blurred looking areas at the end of the beak, set the opacity to about 85 and flattened the image.

Hope this is of some help. I think it would work much better on a larger scan on the picture where you could work on very small areas at a time with the healing brush.

So sorry I never responded. Even though I had instant email notification
on, I never received any. Luckily I decided to check.

Yeah, I know, its very, very hard to see. The only reason why I know
its there is I removed the blade of grass that was going pass in front
of the white part.

Thanks for the suggestions on what everyone did. I'll give it a shot and
see if I can fix it...or maybe replace it with another beak.

Thanks, I appreciate that. Shot this guy at the Erie, PA zoo with a 400mm
lens. Just got back from the Akron zoo with some more penguin shots.
I should find a substitute beak from this new batch :)
