THis was in New Orleans, taken from the boat that took us to the zoo. Have fun!

thanks, dawn and nice shot :)

deep depth shots are always fun to play with.

i whipped these out fairly quickly. the basic process is reversing the image to a negative and then wildly varying a curves layer. a few other things were done, but the basis for all of this is reverse image and curves.

I decided on two different approaches (moods) for this pic, so posted both. The steps involved were a bit haphazard, so once again, I can't retrace the procedurs......if anyone was interested that is!

1stLite and Kraellin

Thanks to you both. I feel the second one is best also. Though what I am upset about is that I dont' remember how I arrived at it for sure.

Thanks!

Nice work.

Can I make a critique?

If you still have the layered file, how about lightening the bridge layer's background greenery (the river line), then defringing the whole bridge layer to remove the white outline.

This will blend the bridge layer with the new sky perfectly yet still allow you to see the trees/bushes..

Great shot from a moving boat, Dawn! :) Thanks for posting it so we could play.

I made a layer from the Blue channel, applied a levels adjustment layer to it to remove most of the midtones and fine tuned with Thresholds to get this stark BW look.

FWIW - this was a completely accidental result. I had no idea when I started that this is where my flailing would take me.

nice simple look, danny, but i thought i was the only one that 'flailed' :)

The compression artifacts spoiled the soup!

Started out using CIBO techniques to enhance the shadow/highlights. Merged in some GREYCstoration, Toadies Metalwork and Flaming Pear's Mr. Contrast, then smudging. Enhanced the Sat/Colors too. :)

Thought i would have a go.

Applied a Gradient Map AL and changed blend to Luminosity, masked out parts of the water to soften the effect.

Thanks Craig. What I dubbed as CIBO is done doing the following (same attributes in Photoshop, so it should work there too, but I like using GIMP). Dup for a total of three layers, set the Top layer to [C]olor and [I]nvert the center layer. [B]lur (for simple sharpening, I usually set it to 5) the center layer and set it to [O]verlay.

I know I haven't been posting as often; I guess I'm spread quite thin with all the boards that I frequent. I still usually read all the post, and though I don't comment on most of all of you all's stuff, I'm quite impressed with the work here. :)

I am so glad you all are enjoying this one. I love what everyone has done with it!

(I know I have been gonde for a while from here - been busy with work and trying to learn more on the photography side here. Got some good news though - I am about to start selling some prints at a store locally. Wish me luck! )
