I have seen this sort of effect going the rounds lately, so i thought i would have a go ,
On the photography side harder than what i thought with the lighting (yes and focus) :eek:
on the manipulation side a lot trickier than i thought ( must name layers better ) :confused:

On the model side well the cat just wasn't THAT co operative ,

And thankfully i do not have to feed more than one ! !! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! :lol:

all in all though good fun to do

That is really cool, Palms! I did one of my baby girl a year or so ago. Bet the cat behaved more than she did - lol. Awesome job on this!

Clever Concept, Palms! I wish I had the patience to try this out with my boys but the thought scares me!

I think you did a GREAT JOB, and it really is hard to tell that it was manipulated, but there are a few things that tattle tale. The Pants on the smiling guy on couch aren't quite right, the leg that is crossed over, something prob to do with the shadow, prob should have more shadow falling on guy number 2 on the couch. Middle guy on the back of the couch stands out too much, I think it would fix it if you lowered the saturation on just him, he seems to be more saturated to my eyes. The one with the hand on guy number 2 is great! I love how you placed his hand! They do however look a little soft. I don't think I would notice it if the background wasn't sharper than they are! Try blurring the background a little bit behind them and it will give the illusion that they are sharper than they really are.

I hope I don't offend, these are just things I see that I think will improve your photo.

this got me thinking; i'm guessing you did all this from cut and paste, but it occurred to me not too long ago that photographers could pull the same trick that hollywood uses in movies..... green screens. i'm also guessing that some probably already do. but it's a simple technology. you put a green screen behind your subject, take your shot, load it into photoshop, or whatever, and because the green screen is a fairly odd hue of green, it's easy to do all your cut and paste selections, or to simply remove the green screen.

so, in a picture like you've posted, and with the ease of use of digital cameras and a green screen, one could actually pull off a totally convincing image in a very short order without all the possible headaches of getting your selections correct and cleaned up.

just a thought.

Tasty yummers. I like it a lot! The only thing I might add is the light is coming from viewers left to right, so maybe think a bit how the shadows might fall on the far side of the bodies. Very well done though!!!

As i said i had seen a few done like this and thought i would have a go , thinking it would be relatively simple, So set the camera up ( only a point and shoot digital) on a tripod , so that i could get a area where the model could move around a bit, thinking that as the photo's would be took at almost the same time the lighting would be the same (wrong) I also think to plan better facial poses would of benefitted more, perhaps so it looked like one was talking to the other,
Then loaded into ps but no cutting and pasting (to much like hard work) just used layer's and layer masks, Realising then about the different lighting and perpestive's,
I will do this again but with more planning ahead

and yup, i think planning is the key on this. start with how you want it to look when finished and work backwards to the shoot.
