The first image here is the whole picture, i am not having any trouble with the most part except for the face of the young boy at the front, i have cropped him out to isolate the problem im having. i cant seem to get his skin right after removing the damage on it, it always seems to turn out too red and gives a sunburned look. this is a family picture and i have been working on it on and off between other projects but am still unable to get that part of the picture right, any help and suggestions would be much appreciated.

the first thing i did was dupe the layer. on the new layer i did a lot of cloning to clean things up and even them out a bit.

added another layer and on this layer i ran the fast fix filter plugin to lower the saturation and the red just a touch. i also lightened it up and added more contrast.

on the next added layer i smudged lightly to get things blended together better.

i then flattened all and sharpened more. i then used the soften brush to rid of excess noise created by the sharpening more.
