David Jaseck graciously approved using this image of his (for sale) classic car. (Thanks a bunch, Dave!)

He suggested rotating it a bit to get the horizon right... See the second thumbnail for his own interpretation (the sparkles are awesome) and to see what I mean about the horizon.

Have fun...

A little vectorizing with SA.

Well done, P and K. Talk about opposite ends of the creative spectrum.

SA = Studio Artist, correct?

Mine: A layer rendered by Impressionist > Pencil Sketch > Monochrome sketch and another using the Little Ink Pot "Sketcher" plugin...

Yes. Studio Artist.

you're starting to think like me, palms (though, i have to admit, my first thought was to rust and junk it) ;) very clever and well done :)

nice, kiska. SA seems like a pretty good program.

also nice, danny. do you use the little ink pot plugin much? also, is there a method to have fewer lines, like almost just the edges?

Had another go, had to post now as it was driving me nuts as to which gradient i prefered

I like all the versions of this cool car. Here's mine.
I gave it a paint job in PhotoShop, then enhanced the background color, used Xero filters Porcelain, and increased brightness and contrast. I sorta thought it ended up looking like an old colorized post card.

danny. do you use the little ink pot plugin much? I don't use it often, Craig, but I've only had it for a couple months.

It's got a lot of flexibility setting-wise, but it takes FOREVER to render even a preview and MUCH, MUCH longer to apply a setting to a layer. Example: Applying one of Photoshop's standard artistic filters might take 5-10 seconds where Sketcher might take 30-45 seconds for just a preview and 2-3 minutes for the entire layer.

The slow rendering sort of discourages experimenting, but in all fairness some of the effects are pretty cool -- if you're patient enough to wait it out.

re: also, is there a method to have fewer lines, like almost just the edges?
Not that I've discovered so far, not like a "Find Edges"-type of filter.

I have not had time to do much lately, so I thought I would give this a try.
I adjusted hue/sat in Photoshop and ran a watercolor filter and a surface blur. I added texture and duplicated the background twice. I solorized the middle layer and used overlay(not sure on this} mode on top layer.

My brother just crumpled the left rear of his SUV on an underground garage post. Maybe that was my inspiration.

The other rendition probably just came from a foggy mind. 8-)

All the interpretations thus far are way cool! :bigthmb:

I lost all of the initial "sparkle" but this is another take.

Thanks for the kudos! The angle of the photograph just begged for projection. Was surprised no one else had done something similar.
