Hi everyone,

This is actually my first thread so I really don't know what I'm doing. I was wondering if anyone has attempted non-photo based art using programs such as Photoshop or PSP. I've attached (or attempted to attach) one of my more recent attempts at creating artwork from scratch (no photos, no photo-refereces, no found textures) Only Photoshop and limited illustrator work. It would be nice to see other examples of this sort of work.

yes, there is a forum in the main Studio forum that i believe is devoted to 'from scratch' work. and i believe the gallery has some examples also.

Great work. I just think you should have made the ornament a little sharper and the loose pine needles. The floor is well done did you use the Fiber filter in PS CS?

This would make a great tutorial !

Thanks for the comments Snowdog. I think the compression affected the sharpness a little though I'm not trying to make excuses. No Fiber filter since I was working in Photoshop 7 (pre-fiber) I just used noise and motion blur (good ol'noise and blur) you can do just about anything with it.

edit: apparently snowdog has nothing in our gallery (so far). so, i guess i was thinking of one of his previous posts.

That's great man. I'm a photog so the scratch stuff is wicked in my book. I dig the reflectons, plug, wall paper etc. The pine needles don't bother me, but I think the hook for the bulb is a bit too thin as is the part on the bulb where the hook goes. Just a hair thicker on the wire that's all.
