I am using (for now) the canonscan FB630U and use 2 monitors, a samsung flatpanel and a Sun Microsystems(I think its a trinitron) and both have thier seperate monitor color managment settings via my eye-one calibration tool.

Now to the question, I noticed in the scanner settings on XP, I can set my ICC settings for the scanner. How would I go about doing that without using a color printer or a more expensive version of the eye-one tool?

Can I just use the same color managment settings as my flat panel? that way what I see scanned is what I will see on the screen?

Scanner calibrators come with a scanning target which it uses to calibrate the scanner. Some come with both reflective (paper) and transmissive (slide) versions, some come with just one. They're a bit expensive, especially considering that they fade and are recommended to be replaced annually.
