Thanks stgi 10-12-2005, 12:12 AM Check out the "Elements 4.0" post on the "Installing Hiden Power Tools 3" forum. Steve Chris Bishop 10-13-2005, 09:30 AM Just bought book for v3 (to help fund your work on tools for 4!). vHow about creating a print ring around testing colour or density or sharpness etc Magic book by the way Chris Bishop Richard_Lynch 10-14-2005, 10:14 AM Just to answer here...I am at work on the tools for Elements 4. There will actually be more of them -- not less as other people rumor (those who provide free tools that access existing interface objects don't have quite the vested interest that I do in creating enhancements). Chris...I am not sure what you mean by "print ring". Is that a UK term for forum, maybe? If it is, these matters can be discussed here -- likely in the Miscellaneous category. I welcome the discussion. Please note, there IS a forum for Elements 4! Just started...and looking to grow. Chris Bishop 10-18-2005, 05:57 AM It goes back to a wet darkroom (no not a leaky office) where you printed an important part of the picture with no adjustment, then moved the easel slightly and printed it again but this time adding perhaps 10cc then repeated the process adding another 10cc filter. In the digital darkroom and with "actions" we could alter the radius of the sharpening or the degree of gaussian blur, or how much red filtration to a b&w image etc It is to print on one sheet of paper many slightly diffrent options to see which is best. This then becomes our "normal" or standard procedure, until we change paper makes, etc Chris Bishop All the gear but no idea Richard_Lynch 10-18-2005, 09:54 AM If you can follow up with the exact settings you want to have the option of choosing from, I can probably make a go of it. Chris Bishop 10-21-2005, 09:27 AM Youre the expert, Ill give it a go. When testing new papers, maybe a series of prints 20 to a page (5*4) First one in the row -20 units next one -10 then normal then +10 then +20 It could be any of the RGB colours, maybe a different colour along each row Or it could sharpening, adjusting one of the variables only in each row, eg keeping radius the same but altering blur Or it could be brightness Or contrast or white balance I would look on it as a learning tool, used less the more experienced I become, until I come across a problem image then use it again to find the best solution. _ A bit of background when I did analogue photography I obtained a Licentiateship to The Royal Photographic Society of GB. However now I am digital, although my photographic skills are Ok, my darkroom (pixel) technique is awful. Chris Bishop 10-27-2005, 09:25 AM Just a thought. In your Elements 3 book on page 11 (chapter one) you show a skull at different settings. This is what I am after. Picutre 1 (EXtreme LHS) Far too Dark Picture 2 ( LHS) Too Dark Picture 3 ( Middle) Correct Picture 4 ( RHS) Too light Picture 5 ( Extreme RHS) Far too light Or harsh/soft Or Red Or Blue Or different threashold amounts etc with the amounts between each photo variable Chris Bishop Richard_Lynch 12-23-2005, 08:02 AM OK, I see what you mean. but isn't that something like what you already can do in the Variations (Enhance>Adjust Color>Color Variations)? |
