View Full Version : Photoshop CS1 profile disaster!

Hi

I have a new computer and have reinstalled all software. I profile my monitor with a Spyder and all looks ok in most applications. But in Photoshop CS1 all images are extremely oversaturated (both in browser and when opened). I have reset the preferences file, uninstalled & reinstalled Photoshop, and as far as I can see use the same color management settings as I did previously (convert to Adobe RGB 1998).

I know it is a Photoshop issue as when I open files in other programs like Breezebrowser all is fine. It looks like some weird double profiling going on. Video card is Gigabyte X700 Pro using the ATI drivers that came with it - they are the latest.

I'm getting a bit stressed and hoping someone can give me an "aha!" clue :)

ok after hours of frustration I posted the above - and 10 minutes later figured it out. Under Windows display settings the monitor workspace was associated with my Spyder created profile rather than Adobe RGB space. Duh!! And to think I was about to take my shiny new box outside for target practice :}

Well calibration is enough to send you insane, have two idential printers, one 2000 another xp and both use different settings for output, drives me to the brink This trully is the edge of both santiy and insanity

I thought I should post an update for completeness of this thread. I did think I had it all sorted, but it turned out I spoke too soon. However finally I got to the root of the problem, it turns out ATI drivers prior to Catalyst v4.6 can have problems recognising calibrations made with a Spyder. I found this out on ColorVision's website FAQ (http://www.colorvision.com/faq_detail.jsp?faq_id=177) .

I did think I had the newest drivers but an upgrade to the latest 5.1 had everything humming nicely. Now I can get back to actually using the computer!
