I tried quite a few things and for some reason I can't get this stupid red line to go away. I tried replacing channels, color balancing, hue and saturation but for some reason I'm overlooking something. I would normally walk away and do it tomorrow but I'm having to rush more since we may be in for a storm (hopefully not) and I want to have all my current projects done before this weekend. Can someone hold my hand and walk me through this before I lose my mind :dizzy: LOL??? Thanks everyone, you all are the greatest. Hope you can see it ok cause I only took a part of the photo.

yup. i hate these, myself. but, there is a fix. flora did a number of these in the restoration forum. i'd suggest finding one of those since she was a master at this. i can do a passable job with gradient masking and color corrections, but find one of flora's :)

Thanks, now to just find the right one lol. These types are quite frustrating that's for sure and I have around 3 right now with this. It's like it comes in waves... one second it's waves of noise removal, then it's waves of color splotches, then waves of fading and you get so used to doing a certain restoration type for so long it's like you forget everything else. LOL Oh well atleast there are waves of anything right now :wink: I know one thing that will help... if I stop staying up so gosh darn late :tired: I think I'm going to bed soon and will double the coffee intake tomorrow :eek:

Try using the methods Flora uses, but for a quick fix, or for removing a particularly stubborn case, try the following.

New layer, set to Colour blend, clone over the red area using good colour from undamaged areas.

Did a really quick job on your posted image. Still needs a curves adj to balance the difference in lighting between red and non-red areas.

A quick way for most of it is the Color Replacement tool if you have CS or CS2.

Another way is to sample the red on a new layer and invert it. Try different layer modes and opacities to blend out the red. Add a black layer mask and then paint over the effected area.
