This is a crop of a photo which is as you see it. I can not post the whole picture as do not have permission to do so. The pic was taken and something must have been set wrong...they are important pictures taken by a father who does not get to see his daughters activities as the mother moved out of state to keep him and family from being part of their lives after a divorce.

He was able to visit them during school activity time and took quite a few pics of his daughters participating in sports events. This is how some of the most important pics turned out. Imagine the disappointment. Can anyone help get the color back into the pic? If it is possible to get someting returned to the pic, could you please post step by step so I can fix the others which are taken at this same event and one night event. The first shot is just autolevels in photoshop. The second is shadows and highlights in PS CS with the shadows set to 50/50/50 and colour correction 20.

Hopefully you will get better/less grainy results on the original - you can see a lot of jpg artifacting in these - as tends to happen when you radically alter the colours etc of a heavily compressed image. Any other grainyness you should be able to retouch out.

1. Adjusted Levels
2. Ran through Neat Image Demo to remove some of the noise
3. Took some of the blur off the basketball
4. Used a very small amount of smudging to even tone again, mainly on
wall boards

Keep moving the white and grey sliders to the left a bit more. The grey slider will almost merge with the black slider

looks like you need to pull back the white slider a little as in move it a little more to the right
