Hello..haven't posted in awhile....I have a situation with a saturation adjustment layer....sometimes the adjustment layer icon looks like a computer, other times it turns into a circle. Does anyone know what causes this or what it represents? Thanks for your help!

What version are you using?

I have often wondered about this.
Happens to me all the time (PS7.0 and CS2) on a PC.

I've always put it down to some sort of lack of memory space, but I'd be very interested if someone could explain it properly.

I could be mistaken about this, but I believe that it is because there is a lack of space because of the layer mask and layer naming convention being used.

This depends on whether your Picture is upright or view.

Load a rectangular image and you get one symbol. Rotate it 90 degrees and the symbol changes.

Thanks Ken! Nobody else in other forums has been able to come up with the answer.

Photshop geek trivia......

This happens when the width is more than 1.43 times the height.

(for PS7.0, small thumbnail palette option)

Well, that's interesting. It does that in Photoshop Elements 2 as well. Never noticed it before. I've probably never tried to apply an adjustment layer to a wide short image before.

I just use these adjustment layers to whiten teeth and eyes......hence I have separate layers for each person because some subjects eyes and teeth obviously are whiter or less white than others.
